Well, another great weekend ,everyone loved it- 21 in total with 8 cars. We saw everything except Rhino. Willem & Jeremy were excellent guides – well done lads but we never saw the mating tortoises? Next time!
The camp GM Kerore was exceptional & so were his staff – we will be back again if they allow us? Accommodation was perfect as was their food in fact, too much!

We had our 2nd Karoga this year in Aug – the food was excellent as usual, mainly because it was cooked by Usha ( Chicken) & yours truly( fish)
We were all very happy untill the bill came! – a bottle of ordinary Gato Negro was 2,200/- & the price of chicken & fish was not far different! 1250/- per chicken & 1350/- pg for fish and that is cooking it ourselves! Well, just goes to show one should always check first – well that’s the last one there! From now on bask to Mary’s , spice Roots or Smokies!

Over Easter weekend a number of us went camping at Carnelleys Camp on the side of Lake Naivasha.
At about 3,30 am on Sunday morning we were awakened by horrific blood curdling screams coming from some other campers, not far away. 6 panga wielding thugs had walked into the camp from the direction of the lake & attacked a lady in one of the tents. Luckily she was unharmed but very shaken by this terrible ordeal.
The thugs took what they could, hand bag, phone etc & ran away without any hindrance from the local askaris who were not to be seen until much later. According to one of the employees of Carnelleys, this is now the 5th time such an event has occurred in the area of Fisherman’s & themselves.
Other than this, the weekend was great fun. We drove to Hells Gate & round the Thermal Power plant – very interesting, can never understand why the pipes bend & twist all over the place?
Lunch at Elsamere’s ( the home of George & Joy Adamson – authors of Born Free ) was excellent as usual – thank you Chef!
It is a great spot to stay with a lovely pub & good food – sadly we won’t be going back to camp – just day trips.
